Acton Trussell and Penkridge Photographic Society
Competition Rules
The Committee would be grateful if all club members could take note of the following which are designed to facilitate the smooth running of competitions, assist new members in their first year with the club, and also the club overall in maximising the number of new images for external competitions.
1. All images (projected image and print format) for internal competitions may have been taken at any time. However, the same image cannot be used twice in the same season irrespective of the format, with the exception being for the Image of the Year competition when an image used earlier in that season can be resubmitted. Also the same dpi or print should not have been used in an internal competition in a previous season, unless they are presented in the alternative format.
An image may not be submitted as both a monochrome and a colour version in the same season.
Please note that, notwithstanding the above, all members wherever possible are encouraged to take fresh images for competitions, rather than rely on images taken some years ago.
2. Images (projected images and prints) for external competitions may have been taken at any time but must not have been used previously in any competition against the same club in previous years. This is to assist our club by maximising the widest possible range of new images for external competitions, but is not intended to discourage the taking of up to date images.
3. All images for projection to be titled in the following format – number, space, image title as follows:
1. Red door.jpg
2. Blue boat.jpg etc.
4. Images may be colour, monochrome or black and white, unless otherwise stated in the competition title.
5. All images for projection must be sized by the authors at a maximum 1400px wide and 1050px high.
6. Single prints should be mounted on boards measuring up to 50cm x 40cm.
Print portfolios may be mounted on boards up to 90cm x 60cm.
The title(s) and the author’s name should be clearly shown on the top left hand corner of the reverse side of the mount.
Ideally prints should be mounted behind a cut out in the board, but may be mounted simply using spray glue.
7. All images will be marked out of 20, but an overall winner will be identified for trophy purposes if there is more than one image gaining 20 points.
8. These rules should be read in conjunction with the separate listing of internal competition titles for each season.
